Aaron Downes Released By Chesterfield

Central defender Aaron Downes has been released by Chesterfield after their relegation from League One.

Downes has been on loan at Bristol Rovers since January and before his injury was in great form. The 26 year old has been with Chesterfield since 2004 and has made over 190 appearances during his long stay with the club.

Mark McGhee has made no secret off wanting to sign Downes and is expected to do so during the summer break. Downes made eight appearances for Rovers during his loan spell.
