Manager John Ward recalled striker Ryan Brunt and Oliver Norburn in to the starting line up in place of Mitch Harding and Eliot Richards who both dropped to the bench, there was no place in the match day squad for Gary Kenneth or Matt Gill. Seanan Clucas was back on the bench after coming through 60 minutes with no set backs during the week.

The first half saw both teams have chances in front of goal, Matt Harrold, Ryan Brunt and Tom Lockyer all had chances but could not break the deal lock. Southend’s best chance fell to striker Freddie Eastwood but Mildenhall was on hand to push the ball wide.

Rovers took the lead 6 minutes in to the second half, Matt Harrold headed home Michael Smith’s cross. The lead lasted 16 minutes, Kevan Hurst fired home from 20 yards out. Rovers next game is against high flying Fleetwood Town at The Memorial stadium next Saturday.
