Bristol Rugby Club has today announced plans to stop ground sharing with Bristol Rovers.

As it stands it looks as if Bristol Rugby will move in with Bristol City after 2013/2014 season. Bristol City have today announced plans to redevelop Ashton Gate if the new stadium at Ashton Vale falls through. Rovers have been sharing the Memorial Stadium with Bristol Rugby since 1996 when Rovers moved back to Bristol after spending 10 years at Bath City’s Twerton Park.

After the rugby club fell into financial trouble Rovers bought the club in 1998. After a long battle to redevelop The Memorial Stadium, Rovers shelved plans and will be moving to a new Stadium hopefully in 2015.
