We are delighted that next week will see us working alongside our Community Trust on two major events, both taking place on Tuesday 20th March.

That day has been earmarked, by the English Football League (EFL) as their Community Day of Action and this year we have invited the Bristol Rovers Youth Disability Team along to our training ground.
They will arrive at 11.30am, and then have a short training session with the first team squad before sitting down to lunch with them.

All 72 EFL clubs will take part in the Day of Action and the aim is to align the activities taking place on the day to highlight the powerful difference and impactful contribution that Clubs make in their local communities.

Last year we invited the Community Trust`s Extra Time Club along to the training ground to meet Darrell and the players and that particular event was well received and used, by the EFL, as an example of best practice.

Last year`s events across the country trended on Twitter for over eight hours, reaching over five million people and secured 100 articles in the traditional media with an estimated reach of 13,476,000 people.

This year`s events will promote the theme of young people (those aged under 25), thus providing clubs with an opportunity to focus a number of wide ranging projects and we have chosen to focus on our Youth Disability Team.

Whilst all that is happening at our training ground (between 11.30am – 1.30pm), back at The Memorial Stadium our Community Trust will be hosting their Premier League Author Day, which will run from 9.30am – 3.00pm.

Three Schools and 100 students will be participating in three workshops in the morning to include a Stadium Literacy Tour, Football Activities and Press interviews with our own BTEC Students.

During the afternoon students will meet the famous children`s author Dan Freedman, the writer behind the Jamie Johnson Football Books and CBBC series.

You are invited to send representatives to both events and we suggest that midday would be the best time to visit the training ground for interviews and photos, whilst any time from 1.15pm would be the best time to come along to The Memorial Stadium.

For more information on both events please contact Community Trust Chief Executive Officer Adam Tutton on 0117 9522581 or adam@bristolroverscommunity.org.uk
