Bristol Rovers were handed a blow before kick off when goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall was ruled out of the game due to family reasons, meaning Will Puddy made his debut in goal. There was also a debut for Neal Trotman in the heart of the defence with Tom Parkes dropping to the bench.

In what was a very disappointing first half Rovers went two goals behind, first John Akinde who once had a loan spell with Rovers slotted home Barnet’s first. it was 2-0 two minutes before the break when Will Puddy spilled the ball for Charlie MacDonald to fire home.

Rovers did improve after the break with Taylor, Brown and Mansell all forcing saves the Stack in the Barnet goal.

Rovers are in 17th place in The Vanarama Conference after two games and are still looking for their first goal of the season. Next up a trip to Altrincham.
