Bristol Rovers have today been dealt a major blow with the news that defender Joe Partington will miss the rest of the season after fracturing his ankle in the 2-0 defeat away at Fleetwood Town on Saturday.

The 28-year-old, who arrived from Eastleigh last January, had a slow start to his Rovers career but has pushed on this season with some commanding displays at right-back and also as a defensive central midfielder.

Before the injury he made 37 appearances this season and had recently found his goalscoring boots, finding the back of the net three times in his last twelve games.

If the rehab goes well then Partington should be fit to return to training when the rest of the players return to pre-season training in the summer.

Partington joins Rovers growing list of injuries for Saturdays clash at home to Charlton Athletic with Chris Lines also missing after being sent off at the weekend.
