Bristol Rovers have sacked director of football John Ward following the club’s relegation from the Football League.

Having been manager for just over a year having helped keep Rovers in League Two last season , Ward was moved upstairs to a role of director of football with just 8 games to go and Darrell Clarke was placed in charge, but has now been removed as the club say the position is no longer viable after the side were relegated to the Conference at the weekend.

Ward also had a spell in charge Rovers between 1993 and 1996.
