Joe Could Miss Out

Midfielder Joe Jacobson could miss the play off final if Rovers were to get there.

Jacobon is currently on loan from Championship side Cardiff City, but his deal with Rovers runs out on Saturday. The date of the final is 26th May, so it means Joe would have to watch from the stands, just as he did against Doncaster in the JPT Final. Joe was cup-tied for that game as he already had played for Accrington Stanley in a previous round.

A club spokesman confirmed: ‘The longest you can sign a player on loan for is 93 days and Joe’s time will be up at the end of this week.

‘He’s eligible for the second leg at Lincoln, but would not be available for the final at Wembley were we to get there.

‘We’ve been on to the Football League to see if anything can be done, but because he’s still a Cardiff player and has another year left on his contract with them, our hands are tied.

‘It’s hugely disappointing for Joe and for the club. But rules are rules and there’s nothing we can do about it. He would still be involved around the team were we to reach Wembley, but he wouldn’t be allowed to play for us.

‘Joe will have to sit and watch, just like he did at the Millennium Stadium.’

Rovers have only lost once in the 12 games that Joe has plyed in.
