Lambert Seals Vital Points

Rickie Lamberts 6th and 7th goals of the season sealed 3 more crucial points, as Rovers Continued their push for the play offs.

It could have been a different story though, the game was only minutes old when John Fitzgerald crashed a shot against the middle of the bar and then defender Dave Challinor drew a hurried dive from Steve Phillips with the follow-up shot.

Rovers slowly got on top, Lewis Haldane was a constant threat down the right hand side. Walker almost put Rovers one up, but the striker’s shot grazed the outer side of the post.

30 minutes in Rovers made the break through, Walker found Lambert with a clever pass inside and the £200,000 signing from Rochdale made no mistake with the finish.

Bury never really looked like scoring and 15 minutes into the second half it was 2-0 to Rovers. Colin Woodthorpe brought Lewis Haldane down just outside the area. Campbell delivered a low ball into the box and there was Lambert to volley home.

The win moves Rovers upto 9th in league Two, just 2 points outside the play offs.
