Central defender Tom Broadbent has today agreed a new contract with the club.

The 26 year old has been a find for Darrell Clarke and has been involved more than most people would have thought. He has made 14 starts this season with a further two appearances from the bench.

The former Lance Bombardier with the Royal Artillery, who served six years in the Army, joined the club last summer having previously played non league football for Farnborough, Petersfield Town and Hayes & Yeading.

Broadbent told the Official site he was surprised to get the deal so early “I`m extremely happy that this has come so quickly.

“I thought that perhaps a new deal may come towards the back end of the season, but I`m delighted to get a new contract signed and now I can concentrate on the rest of the campaign.”

Tom made his debut on the opening day of the season in the 1-0 away defeat to Charlton Athletic.
