A brace from young Striker Stuart Nicholson was enough to give Rovers there first win for six games. Nicholson is on a season long loan from Championship side West Brom and has now scored 6 goals in 11 starts for Rovers.

Rovers were hit with a double injury blow when experiance players Sammy Igoe and Steve Elloitt pulled out with Achilles problems. Sam Oji, on loan from Birmingham and Joe Jacobson on loan from Cardiff were given another chance to shine. Chris Lines was also given another start in midfield.

Lambert had a early chance, after being put through by Craig Disley but the striker blasted wide. County who have not scored since Jason Lee started his ban went close. Andy Parkinson’s run down the left saw him push a pass inside for Jay Smith. Steve Phillips in the Rovers’ goal allowed the ball to squirm away but recovered to push it one-handed off the toes of Tcham N’Toya-Zoa.

Rovers went ahead in the 53rd minute, Lewis Haldane made a great run down the left before laying on a superb pass for Nicholson to fire home.

It was 2-0 20 minutes later, Lambert picked out Nicholson with a fine pass and the on loan striker struck a great volley passed the County Keeper.

The win moves Rovers upto 13th place and if they win there here games in hand, Rovers could move upto 9th.
