Barnsley Manager Keith Hill has said the club has not made a fresh approach to sign winger Mustapha Carayol.

The Championship club did make a bid to sign Carayol in the January Transfer Window but could not agree a deal with Rovers. “We were interested in Mustapaha Carayol but we have not made an approach since the last season finished,’ said Hill to The Chronicle

i>”We tried to jump the queue and sign him in January because that is what we have to do to get the best players. We were very, very close to signing him in January but could not quite agree a deal and I don`t think we can get him now. He is destined to be playing at the top of the Championship in the near future. We won`t be able to compete with the other clubs that want him.”

Carayol has been subject to interest from several Championship clubs. Rovers are keen to hold on to the 22 year old and are in talks with the player over a new deal.
