Vital Gas caught up with Derbyshire_Shrimper, a Southend fan ahead of Saturdays clash at Roots Hall….

What would you say your current form has been like?

We’re bottom of the league on current form, but we’re still above Leyton Orient in the table

Which players in your opinion will be the biggest threat to the Gas?

Difficult to tell, we haven’t got many left. However, quite fancy Adam Barrett or Peter Clarke to give your lot a scare from set pieces.

Johnny Herd, defender, has come through the ranks. Looking better with each game.

Adam Barrett (again), you know him as well as we do. Will be up for this game as an ex-gas player.

Do you have any key players that will be missing from the game?

Same as above.

What were your expectations at the beginning of the season, are these going to be achieved or have you changed your expectations?

For me it’s always been maintaining League One status as we lost 3 key players that helped us to the play offs in the summer to Championship clubs. With the likes of Leicester, Leeds and Scunthorpe in the league, and the promoted teams from League 2 last season looked to have a bit about them, it was always going to be difficult to emulate last seasons success. My expectations are still the same as the start of the season. Anything else like beating C*lchester and or*ent are a bonus.

Any new signings in recent weeks?

That would be nice. Anyone. How about Ricky Lambert?

What are your strengths/weaknesses?

Strengths; if the Shrimper faithful get behind the team as we know we can, that’ll be the 12th man. Hopefully the return of Macca and Anthony Grant will give the midfield a bit of creativity.

Weaknesses; Not saying.

Finally what is your score prediction for the game?

0-0
