Shrewsbury Town striker Stefan Payne has finally completed his move to Bristol Rovers after days of speculation.

The 6′ 2″ striker who was Shrewsbury top goalscorer moves to Rovers for an undisclosed fee, which is believed to be around £250,000. plus add-ons. The 26-year-old hit 14 goals for Paul Hurst’s men helping  Shrewsbury make the playoffs, but they lost out to Rotherham in the final. Clarke has been looking for a replacement for Ellis Harrison who Joined Ipswich Town two weeks ago and after missing out on Walsall striker  Amadou Bakayoko who opted for Coventry instead, Clarke finally got in the striker that we so desperately need.

Payne has had spells at Barnsley, Ebbsfleet, Gillingham and Dover Athletic where he scored 33 goals in 79 starts for the Conference side and has been at Shrewsbury since January 2017, he first had a successful loan spell then signed in August 2017.

Payne will go straight into Saturday’s squad to face Accrington Stanley at home in League One.
