Plymouth Made Offers For Coles

It has been confirmed that Championship side Plymouth Argyle made several offers for central defender Danny Coles.

Vital Gas reported that Plymouth were chasing the former Bristol City player back in June and Trollope has confirmed the offers were turned down

Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk
“We received a couple of offers from Plymouth that were not accepted”

“As far as we are concerned he’s a big player for us, and is going to play a huge part in our future, and we don’t want him to go anywhere.”

“He’s said he’s happy here but, obviously, there’s a part of him that wants to play in the Championship so it’s up to us to persuade him that he can go there with us and we are very confident of doing that.”

“The Board have assured us that he doesn’t have to be sold. Comments have been made that we are trying to build a team for the Championship, and not rip it apart, and with the signings of Darryl Duffy and Jeff Hughes we feel we are building a group of players who can sustain a challenge for the Championship and then play in it when we get there. We certainly don’t want Danny to go and we haven’t received any fresh bids from Plymouth this week. Whether or not they make another bid is their business, but we want him to stay”

Coles signed for Rovers from Hull City back in January after a successful loan spell and soon settled in to the Rovers set up putting in some impressive performances for the Gas, not only in defence but also in midfield.

Coles made 30 appearances for Rovers this season and scored 3 times including the opening goal in Rovers 2-2 draw against Premiership Fulham.
