John Ward handed a debut to new signing Chris Beardsley who played along side Eliot Richards.

Rovers went in to the game having been on a bad run a form, whilst Oxford were sitting a the top of League Two, but it was Rovers who were to take all three points thanks to a penalty from midfielder John Joe O’Toole after Eliot Richards had been fouled just in side the box.

Keeper Steve Mildenhall was on hand to make good saves from Oxfords Dave Kitson and former Rovers player Sean Rigg. Next up for Rovers is a home tie against York City in the first round of the F.A Cup on Friday night. Rovers moved up one place to 20th after the win.
