Darrell Clarke named an unchanged side to face league leaders Northampton Town. On loan striker Oliver Mcburnie was missing through illness.

Rovers got off to a lively start taking the game to leaders Northampton from the off, but it was the hosts who had the first chance through striker John Marquis who shot over. At the other end Tom Lockyer headed over from a Liam Lawrence corner.

Northampton took the lead on 22 minutes when Adams headed home. Holmes was unlucky not to make it 2-0 just before the break when his free kick cannoned back off the bar. Hoskins did make it 2-0 just after the restart.

Clarke brought on Montano and Harrisson and it kicked Rovers back into life. With 14 minutes to go top scorer Matty Taylor scored a goal similar to Vardy’s against Germany to make it 2-1, then with 2 minutes Ellis Harrison sneaked in at the back post to make it 2-2. A point was enough to see Northampton promoted to League One.

Next up for Rovers is a home clash against Yeovil Town on Saturday. Rovers are now 4th in League Two, two points behind Accrington Stanley.
