John Joe O’Toole was recalled to the side after setting out Saturdays defeat at Portsmouth, missing through injury was Danny Woodards and Michael Smith.

Rovers had to name youngsters Dominic Thomas and Jamie Lucas on the bench. Rochdale started brightly and had keeper Steve Mildenhall to thank for keeping the scores level with two great saves in the opening minutes. It was Rovers who took the lead though on 17 minutes when Kaid Mohamed shot hit the inside of the post and rolled over the the line.

But Rovers could of not hoped for a worse start to the second half, with the first attack of the second half sub Joe Bunney pounced on poor defending by Rovers and shot past keeper Steve Mildenhall. Rovers were trying to take the lead again but were struggling to create any real chances. Former midfielder Matt Lund made things worse when he tapped home to put Rochdale 2-1 up.

A lot of effort from Rovers today, but the side lacks any real experience. Two massive games left for Rovers, Wycombe away and Mansfield at home. Luckily results went Rovers way today with Exeter, Northampton and Wycombe all losing.
