Bristol Rovers dropped out of the play off after a 0-0 draw against Chester City. Young Midfielder Chris Lines was named in the starting line up due to suspension to Sammy Igoe and Captian Stuart Campbell.

Trollope named keeper Steve Phillips as Captian for the day in the absence of Campbell and the ex Bristol City stopper produced another fine display and another clean sheet.

Rain and Bristol rugbys match the night before had put a question mark over this game going ahead, the pitch in my opinion was only just about playable.

Rovers were desperate for the game to be played if only to use up one-match suspensions for captian Stuart Campbell and Sammy Igoe ahead of next Saturday’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Derby.

There was very little action in the first half and a half time score of 0-0 was a fair one.

Chester were the better side after the break with Gregg Blundell shooting wide after breaking clear. Steve Phillips made a fine save in the 62nd minute, denying Jon Walters from closee range.

Defender Craig Hinton had the best chance for Rovers but put his header straight at Danby in the Chester goal.
