Bristol Rovers are represented in the latest League Cup team of the round that has been selected after the round two action last midweek.

The performance by Ryan Sweeney in the one nil victory over Fulham last midweek was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the League Cup competition.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Sweeney was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the EFL.com blurb read.

‘Another League One outift to keep a side from the tier above at bay were Bristol Rovers, who held firm to defeat Fulham at Craven Cottage. Going a goal ahead early on, Darrell Clarke’s men were prepared for an onslaught, but Sweeney – along with his fellow defenders – dealt with everything the Cottagers had to offer.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Sweeney for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Will Norris (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Joe Worrall (Nottingham Forest), Joe Wright (Doncaster Rovers), Ryan Sweeney (Bristol Rovers), Demarai Gray (Leicester City), Ben Fox (Burton Albion), Kemar Roofe (Leeds United), Leroy Fer (Swansea City), Josh Clarke (Brentford), Scott Hogan (Aston Villa), Josh Murphy (Norwich City).

Manager – Lee Johnson (Bristol City).
