John Ward welcomed back Birmingham defender Will Packwood to the starting line up in place of Oliver Norburn.

Seanan Clucas, Ellis Harrison and Ryan Brunt all missed the game through injury. Rovers best chance of the day went to midfielder Ollie Clarke but his 9th minute effort was cleared of the line, Rovers struggled to create any real chances after that. Chris Beardsley who has just extended his loan spell with Rovers until January was shown a straight red card for his challenge on Burton’s Robbie weir.

It was Weir who scored the only goal of the game, he lashed home a 25-yard shot. Keeper Steve Mildenhall had to be on hand to pull off several fine saves. Burton were also down to 10 men in the second half when when winger Jimmy Phillips picked up a second yellow card in added time. Rovers tried to push up to grab an equalizer, but the task was made harder when midfielder John-Joe O’Toole was sent off for a clash inside the Burton penalty area, taking Rovers down to nine men.

Rovers are down to 22nd in League Two and next face Cheltenham Town away on Tuesday night.
