Richard Walker booked Rovers place in the Johnsons Paint Trophy area final against local rivals Bristol City. Walker scored the only goal of a very scrappy game at Gay Meadow.
The opening 45 minute saw very little goal mouth action and both keepers had hardly anything to do. The goal eventualy came in 53rd minute, Walker sprinted away from his man and calmly slotted a low shot into the back of the net beyond the reach of MacKenzie.
Shrewsbury started to sense they were on there way out and humped a few long balls forward in the final minutes, but the Rovers defence stood firm to ensure the job was done.
Rovers now face City at Ashton Gate on the 21st Feb with the return leg at The Memorial Stadium on the 27th.
