Rovers defender Danny Coles has had a new injury set back and may now miss the rest of this season.
Coles was meant to play in a reserve friendly against Hereford today but pulled out after a setback with the knee problem that has kept him out of action for almost five months.
Rovers’ physio Phil Kite said to TIB: ‘Danny had been back in training for a couple of weeks without any problem – but late last week his knee swelled up again.
‘He has since seen a specialist in Harley Street and has had an injection and now we will give it a couple of weeks to settle down and see how things go from there.
‘It’s a setback for Danny but not a disaster. The specialist said that it is quite common to get these sort of complications after the injury he has had and it doesn’t look as though he will need more surgery.
‘Whether he can play again this season, we will have to wait and see.’
Rover drew the friendly against Hereford 1-1 Adam Mahdi scored for Rovers. Joe Jacobson and Craig Disley played a full 90 minutes.
