Torquay United have signed centre back Aaron Downes.
The 27 year old defender has signed a one year deal with the League Two outfit. Downes spent the end of last season on loan with Rovers from League One side Chesterfield and nine appearances, he was in impressive form for Rovers but got injured and struggled to recover from injury.
It looked at first as if Downes was going to return to Rovers this season permanently after being released by Chesterfield, but McGhee turned his attentions to other transfer targets. Downes was with Chesterfield for around nine year and made just under 200 appearances for the club.
