A bid from the Pirates for Bournemouth Striker Jo Kuffour has been verbally agreed.

Bournemouth were reluctant to release Kuffour until they had sourced a replacement for the striker.

The cherries, now have their sights on Brentford’s Alan Connell which means the Gas are able to make a move for Jo.

Bristol Rovers submitted a bid for £50,000 in the summer which was rejected by Bournemouth before they came out of administration.

This follows news earlier this week that Paul trollope was hoping to bring in a new player ahead of this weekends fixture it is thought that the deal is worth £60,000 as Kuffour still has one year left of his current contract.

Paul Baker said from Dean Court (TIB)

‘I’m more concerned about the strength of our squad than strengthening somebody else’s,’ Baker said.’

‘Everybody recognises Jo is the main striker at the club and we need to source a replacement first, then be in a position to let him go.’

‘There’s a couple of weeks to go in the transfer window and I don’t feel the need to rush, even though Jo might want to go as soon as possible.’

Vital will inform you as soon as we know the specifics of any deal and whether he will be in the squad for Saturday.
