Rovers first team coach says there was good and bad points to be taken from Rovers 1-1 draw with Blue Square Premier side Torquay United.

Paul Trollope spoke to the club website

‘There were quite a few bits and pieces, and individuals, we were pleased with. On the other hand, though, there are some things we need to iron out and work on and a few individuals need to do better if they are going to come with us. It’s early days, but we are looking for a level of performance, and a quality, that’s going to see us in the top half of League One and some showed it and some didn’t.’

Trolls also commented on potential new permanent player Andy Williams after his second half debut to replace Lambert.

‘There’s competition there, but Andy made an impact in the second half. His pace and his movement caused Torquay a few problems, and he showed some bits of quality. He also hit the target, and the keeper made some good saves from him.’

Paul would like to see Williams improve his confidence in front of goal and a few goals in next weeks Sweden Tour will benefit the young striker.

Torquay boss Paul Buckle was pleased with his team’s effort I knew it was going to be a tough game and it’s nice of ‘Troll’ to say some good things about us. We knew it would be a test today. Paul Trollope as a player always wanted to win and his sides are always competitive. Both teams tried to play and mix the game up which brought a lot of realism to the game.

‘Their goal was a fantastic strike, I actually applauded it myself, he (Jacobson) is a good player but we reacted well and could have won the match if Matt Green had been a bit luckier with the ball hitting the post. I don’t think their goal rocked us too badly and we tried to attack the whole game

i was a little disappointed with the performance to be honest, we were making alot of the same mistakes as last season. I was just glad that it was only a friendly.

Still we learn our lessons from these games, looks like trolls aint going to take any rubbish this season and rightly so
