Centre back Clayton McDonald who spent time on loan at Rovers towards the end of the season has been released by Port Vale.

The 24 year old spent the most of his time on the bench for Rovers, but did manage 4 starts and 2 sub appearances during his time with Rovers. He was at Port Vale for two seasons and made 48 starts for the newly promoted side with a further 11 appearances was made from the bench.

It’s not yet know if Ward will make a move for McDonald, Rovers have defenders Gary Kenneth and Danny Woodards both out with long term injuries, but Ward has just snapped up centre back Mark McChrystal on a two year deal.
