McGhee ‘We Were Punished’

Mark McGhee was left frustrated by Rovers showing in the first 20 minutes of last night 3-2 defeat against Northampton.

Rovers were 3-0 down inside 20 minutes, but managed to pull it back to 3-2 after a better second half showing. ‘I think that Northampton looked like a team that really had something to play for early on and we didn’t and, regardless of how the goals came about, it was more about our general attitude.

‘I just thought we were off it and they looked like a team that had set themselves up well and who closed us down and pressed us, as we knew they would.

‘We looked a little bit uncertain in that first twenty minutes, and we were punished.’

Last night’s defeat was only Rovers second defeat since Mark McGhee took over from the sacked Paul Buckle.
