West Brom manager Tony Mowbray admitted that the margin that his side won by was very flattering.
West Brom won the quarter final tie 5-1, but it was very harsh on Rovers who matched the Championship side for long periods of the game.
‘My first thoughts are with Bristol Rovers because it wasn’t a 5-1 game – but we are a team who score goals,’ said Mowbray to the Evening Post.
‘We scored five in the previous round against Coventry and we’ve done it again here.
‘But for long spells it was a very physical and tough game for us, which is what we expected.’
West Brom have been drawn against Portsmouth, the only Premiership side left in the competition.
