Bristol Rovers faced a heavy defeat at the hands of bottom placed club Newport County.

Darell Clarke recalled centre back Tom Parkes in place of the injured Mark McChrystal and Jermaine Easter replaced Ellis Harrison. It was Parkes who gifted Newport their opening goal heading into his own net. Rovers were back on level terms just minutes later when Billy Bodins excellent 25 yard strike flew in. Rovers put the pressure on to take the lead before half time but could not find away past the County keeper.

Seven minutes into the second half keeper Lee Nicholls dropped the ball at the feet of Zak Ansah’s who slotted home. The mistake seemed to dent Rovers confidence and despite plenty of shots they good not pull level, in fact it got worse for Rovers as County added a further two goals through Ansah and O’Sullivan.

Rovers dropped to 13th in League Two and next face Cambridge away on Friday night.
