Shrewsbury Town Manager Gary Peters has admitted he tried to sign striker Richard Walker.

Walker has been warming the subs bench in recent weeks, but it looks as though Walker wants to stay at Rovers and battle for a place in the starting lineup after turning down the chance to join the League Two side.

Peters said the official website ‘I thought we had achieved that but Richard still wants to stay at Bristol Rovers and see if he can get into the side.’

Walker has yet scored for Rovers from open play and is currently behind Williams, Rigg and Lambert in the pecking order.

Fair play if he wants to battle for his place, shame he hasn’t been good enough at this level so far this season.

If he wants to fight for his place then he’d better start bucking his ideas up. He can’t keep standing just inside the penalty box, expecting the ball to come to him.
