Bristol Rovers League One clash with league leaders Swansea City ended chaos last night.
Rovers lost the high-tempo game 2-0, in which Swansea’s Febian Brandy was sent off after lashing out at defender Danny Coles.
After the final whistle there was a incident in the tunnel that saw Danny Coles end up with a bloody lip.
Rovers first-team coach Paul Trollope said to the Evening Post: ‘I didn’t see the incident, but I saw the end of it and saw Danny’s lip, which was very bloody and swollen.
‘It was apparently a serious incident and there were a lot of witnesses. There is no place for it in football and I hope it is dealt with.
‘When I left the dressing room, the police were still in there taking statements from our players. Stewards witnessed it as well.
‘Our players showed a good discipline and restraint not to escalate it and get involved. The blame seems to be all on one side.
‘It was a nasty incident at the end of a high-tempo, competitive game which was soured at the end.’
Swansea assistant manager Graeme Jones was arrested on the night but has since been released.
