Defender Mark McChrystal has today left Bristol Rovers.

The 32 year old was signed by former Manager John Ward in January 2013 after he was released by Tranmere Rovers. He was made captain by Darrell Clarke for Rovers remaining eight games of the season. After relegation into the Conference McChrystal formed a solid partnership along solid Tom Parkes and helped Rovers win promotion back to the Football League after a play off win over Grimsby Town. McChrystal falling to his knees in tears is a memory that will last for ever. He also had a spell between the sticks against Wrexham after Steve Mildenhall got injured.

Back in League Two and McChrystal carried on his all hearted performances and played a massive roll in Rovers winningh promotion to years in a row. This season his appearances has been limited making just six appearances, his last appearance was the 3-1 defeat away at Fleetwood back in January.

In total McChrystal made 127 appearances and scored his only goal for the club against Bristol City in the JPT.
