Walk For Glo

When Mark Brimson`s wife died ten years ago his life turned upside down. Today he is in the final preparation stages of an epic challenge to celebrate her life.

On 7th June 2007 Gloria Brimson lost her life after complications during surgery. She had an Arteriovenous malformation, which came to light while they were travelling in Australia.

The last ten years have been tough. As a young man Mark struggled to come to terms with the grief and loss and on the 9th anniversary of her passing feared that he may join his late wife as his health was suffering.

On that day he decided to take on a huge challenge, to celebrate Glo`s life and to lay down a positive memory for years to come.

So on the 20th March, Mark and a team of fellow walkers Olly Culverhouse, Nicky Marshall, Matthew Poole, Paul Simpson and Adrian Chase will leave Plymouth Argylle – the first away game fixture Mark took Glo to. After 5 marathons in 5 days they will arrive at Bristol Rovers` Memorial Ground – the team that Mark has supported since he was 4 years old.

The plan is to raise £10,000 for Headway Bristol – the charity that would have supported Glo had she survived the operation.

“I have been amazed by the support of my family and friends, especially as none of the other walkers knew Glo. Sponsors have stepped forward to help with the costs of the walk and donations have been streaming in. I would love to get to our £10,000 target, as this means so much to me personally. I already feel better mentally from the process of arranging this and now as a team we can`t wait to get walking.”
