Ward “I`m not disappointed at all’

John Ward left Ashton Gate last night feeling proud of his players for going toe to toe with the League One side.

Rovers lost the game 2-1 due to two great strikes from City players Emmanuel-Thomas and Bryan, Mark McChrystal scored Rovers goal from a header. “I`m not disappointed at all. We lost the game, but we performed well against a team that was in the Championship only a few months ago.

“I think there are a lot of positives I can take from the way the boys played and I am absolutely fine with how they performed. I`m only disappointed with the result because I feel we could have had an equaliser to take it to penalties. Said Ward To BP.

‘We`ve stood toe-to-toe with them and I am really pleased about that. I watched City beat Crystal Palace last week and I think we have come here and given them a tougher game.

“I look at this performance and it makes me happy to think about the progress we have made over the last eight months. These young guys are very responsive in games and in training and they have more than held their own tonight.”

Rovers next game is away to Plymouth on Saturday.
