Welcome to Rory Gaffney, whose introduction was one of four changes following a disappointing outing at home to Stevenage. With Ollie Clarke and Lee Mansell adding bite to the midfield it looked like Stuart Sinclair’s 82nd minute goal would be enough for another impressive away win. Sadly The Grecians equalised with virtually the last kick of the game.

Recent comments attributed to Darrell Clarke suggest that we may have seen the last of Nathan Blissett and that Lee Nicholls loan spell will not be renewed. With the latter in mind, what does Steve Mildenhall have to do to get a game?

Before the game we would have settled for a draw against a high flying Exeter side, but having come so close, it almost feels like a defeat. The positives to take are that the draw lifts us to 12th place in the division. Again before the season started we would have been ecstatic with that.

Win our game in hand and we will be on the verge of the play-off positions. What an incredible situation for the first season back. However there are important things to bear in mind: Firstly the game is at home and we know away sides come and block for all they are worth and we have not been able to break them down. Perhaps Rory Gaffney will add the X-Factor and turn around our abysmal home showing. Secondly, the game is not against any-old-team, but none other than our arch-rivals Wycombe who we still suspect stage-managed the Health and Safety calling off of a game where we just happened to be three nil up! So the stage is set for a highly dramatic performance on Tuesday night. Let’s hope we can kick start our season at home.

Of the 5,500 fans at Exeter at least 1500 were Gas-Heads. In this appalling weather, a really impressive performance especially bearing in mind our topsy turvy season. What spirit. What a club. What supporters.

Just another point before wrapping-up. I see that Nick Higgs remains confident that we will win our Court case against Sainsbury’s and that discussions with potential investors continue. Is this really Alice in Wonderland stuff. Admittedly both or with would make fantastic Christmas or New Year presents for the long suffering Gas. Come on you Blues.
