Trialist Danny Rose has been released by Paul Trollope.

The former Manchester United reserve team captain has been on trial with Rovers over the past month and seemed to be doing enough to earn him self a deal, but Trollope told Danny Rose he will not be getting a deal.

‘We’ve let Danny go,’ Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk, ‘We decided against taking him on a longer contract, although throughout pre-season he applied himself well and made a decent contribution.

‘We just thought that for the squad at the moment in terms of the shape and size we want, he doesn’t quite suit what we need.

Many Gasheads thought the number 16 shirt left spare was to be given to Rose, but it know looks like it will be empty as the season starts in one week.

It’s a shame as he will turn out to be a very good player. Think it was more than just football matters in the reasoning. Would imagine Rose is after a decent wage too and perhaps Trolls/Lennie didn’t think he was worh it in that sense when he would only be back-up to start with.
