Phillips: We’re Learning

Rovers keeper Steve Phillips says that they have learnt a few lessons after the 3-0 home defeat by Leeds United on Friday.

Rovers had much of the play against Leeds but felled to make the most of their possession, but Phillips says Rovers will be more Streetwise ahead of the Carlisle game.

‘We need to take lessons on board before we play Carlisle because certainly a couple of the goals we conceded against Leeds were avoidable,’ Phillips told the Evening Post.

‘We’ve looked back on them since and we weren’t pleased with the ease with which they scored. Hopefully we have learned lessons from it.

‘The difference between sides in League One and League Two is that in League Two, a striker would probably have missed Leeds’ first goal completely and the overhead kick for their third would probably have ended up in the stand. At this level, half-chances like that are stuck away.’

Rovers will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they face Carlisle on Saturday and leapfrog the The Cumbrians who currently lay just one point above them.
