Paul Trollope is keen to keep top goalscorer Rihard Walker at The Memorial Stadium whos contract runs out in the summer.

Walker scored two goals in Rovers 3-1 win over Shrewsbury to help clinch Rovers a place in League One next season. The goals on Saturday took his tally to 23 for the season and Trollope is keen to secure for next season.

Trollope said: ‘Richard’s a good goalscorer and his record for Bristol Rovers is phenomenal.

‘We want to keep the group together and now we’re in League One, hopefully that gives us a better position to sign the players.

‘He turned an offer down in January but we’ll be speaking to him again.

‘He’s indicated he would like to stay and we’d like him to stay.’

After the play off win Walker hinted he would like to stay.

‘Hopefully it can be resolved by the end of the week,’ he said, ‘It’s only been slow because of the big games we’ve had, so we’ve put it to one side to concentrate on the matches.
‘But I definitely want to stay, I’ve enjoyed my time here and if it gets sorted then I’ll be delighted.’
