Junior Agogo?s single strike was enough to give Rovers the 3 points at the Memorial Stadium today. It was a very scrappy affair, in which neither team dominated enough to take control.

Rovers started the brightest with Craig Disley heading just wide from a Stuart Campbell cross. 28 minutes in and Rovers took the lead, after some slick passing football Junior Agogo tucked away James Hunts through ball, to make it 1-0 to The Gas. Bury failed to trouble Rovers keeper Scott Shearer at all in the first half.

The second half started and again it was Bristol Rovers who were creating the chances. Defender Steve Elliot flashed a free kick just wide, while Matthew Tipton forced Shearer into producing a good save down to his right.

Leading marksman Richard Walker should have doubled the advantage midway through the second half. After some superb flowing football Lewis Haldane supplied a delightful cross only to see Walker plant his header just over. Haldane supplied another great cross into the box which Disley failed to test the Bury keeper.

The final minutes were a little nervous for the Gas which saw Bury have a lot more possession but Rovers held tight for 3 points and now sit just outside the play off places.

Paul Trollope
‘I don’t think we were at our spectacular best today by any means,’ Paul told bristolrovers.co.uk, ‘We weren’t as fluent as we can be, but I’m delighted with the three points, and I’m delighted with the clean sheet.
