Mark McGhee welcomed back Fabian Broghammer into the starting line up and was also boosted by the return of Derek Riordan on the bench.

Defender Gary Kenneth was also passed fit to play. Accrington Boss Paul Cook left to join Chesterfield on Thursday so Leam Richardson was placed in caretaker charge and guided Accrington to their first win in five games. Ian Dunbavin in the Accrington goal pulled off a number of fine saves from Striker Tom Eaves.

It looked as if Rovers were going to gain a much needed point away from home, but with 11 minutes to go Padraig Amond turned home Rommy Boco’s cross to give Accrington the lead. Gary Kenneth did have a shot cleared off the line from a corner that saw keeper Neil Etheridge go up.

Next up for Rovers is a F.A Cup First Round clash at home to League Ones Sheffield United.
