Lewis Haldane says facing Leeds tonight will be a dream come true.

The 22 year old winger has been a Leeds United fan since the age of 5, when his dad bought him a season ticket for Elland Road. He was a regular at Elland right up until he was 16.

Haldane told the Evening post ‘When I was young, my dad drummed Leeds United into me and I had an Elland Road season ticket pretty much from when I was five to when I was about 15 or 16,’ said the Rovers winger.

‘I’d go to 30 or 40 games a season and it was a long drive from our home in Wiltshire. But it was worth it.

‘We followed them in the Champions League. I saw them play in Italy against Roma and Lazio and in Spain against Valencia and Barcelona.’

Haldane says it would be a dream come true to be involved against Dennis Wise’s side at a packed Memorial Stadium this evening.

‘It’s the game I looked for as soon as the fixtures came out. I just can’t wait for it to start – it’s going to be one of the best moments of my life,’ he said.

‘I never imagined playing against Leeds when I was younger because when I was watching them in Europe, I just thought they’d always be playing at that level.

‘Things have gone downhill for them since then, but at least now I’ve got an opportunity to play against the club that had all my boyhood heroes.

‘It’s a special night for my family, who will be really proud of me, and an emotional one for my dad.’

The game kicks off tonight at 7-45pm at the Memorial Stadium and is expected to be the highest ever attendance at the Memorial Stadium.
