Manager John Ward made three changes to the starting line up against Portsmouth. Striker Matt Harrold was recalled to lead the line up top, Eliot Richards and Mark McChrystal was also recalled.

Portsmouth started strongly but Rovers were defending well with McChrystal looking back to his best in the heart of the Rovers defence. It was Rovers who nearly took the lead though through David Clarkson, but the Scottish striker saw his long range effort cannon back off the bar. On 40 minutes Rovers did take the lead, Ollie Clark scored his first goal for Rovers with a fine Volley.

Rovers came out strong in the second half and deservedly extended their lead in on 70 minutes when Dave Clarkson fired home Ollie Norburns through ball. Rovers moved up to 18th in League Two after yesterdays win. Next up is a trip away to Torquay United on Boxing Day.
