New Bristol Rovers Manager Mark McGhee got off to the perfect start beating high flying Cheltenham Town 2-0 away from home.

McGhee named the same starting eleven that drew with Crawly last weekend, but brought back the fit again Matt Gill on to the bench. Rovers started solidly, keeping Cheltenham out with some solid defending. Rovers came the closest in the first half to taking the lead when Chris Zebroski’s header brushed the outside of the post.

The second half both teams came out more attacking and it was Rovers who took the lead through Chris Zebroski who hit a clinical shot from the edge of the area. Eliot Richards sealed the win when he pounced on Alan Bennett’s error in the box and poked home after Brown in the Cheltenham goal failed to hold onto Zebroski’s powerful drive. Sub Scott Mcgleish nearly added a third but the striker headed wide.

Next up for Rovers is a home clash against Bradford City, Rovers are now 16th in League Two after todays win.
