Bristol Rovers were knocked out of the First Round of the F.A Cup by League One high flyers Sheffield United.

Manager Mark McGhee recalled Derek Riordan back in to the starting line up and gave Seanan Clucas a start in the middle of the park. Sam Walker started in goal as Neil Etheridge was not given permission to play. Rovers started of well with Dave Clarkson giving Rovers the lead on five minutes. Rovers played well in the first half and seemed to be a match for the League One side.

It took Sheffield United just seven minutes in the second half to draw level, top scorer Nick Blackman finished from a narrow angle. Rovers struggled to break down Sheffield United in the second half and it was no surprise when Sheffield United took the lead. Neill Collins headed down a cross for the unmarked Porter to grab the winner, although it did appear that Gary Kenneth was pulled down during the build up.

Rovers next game is on Tuesday night when they take on Southend at The Memorial Stadium.
