Bristol Rovers were held to a 0-0 draw at home to lowly Rochdale. Rovers have not beaten Rochdale at home for nearly nine years and never really looked liked ending that spell. The gas once again looked punch less up front and could have done with new £200, 000 signing. Part of the deal which brought Lambert to Rovers was that he was unable to play against his former club, a good move by Rochdale.

The only real chance of the game was a 73rd minute penalty for The Gas. James Sharp gave away a spot-kick for a two footed challenge on Lewis Haldane. Lewis had to go of injured after that tackle. Many thought the deadlock would be broken, but Richard Walkers spot kick was saved by the legs of Dale`s keeper Matt Gilks.

The off field problems at Rovers are reflected in today`s gate of just 4;689 and the performance put in by Rovers will not have done have much to encouraged the 4`500 Gasheads to return to the Mem. Hopefully Rickie Lambert can spark some life into us when he returns for the game against Torquay on Wednesday night.

Paul Trollope
‘I was disappointed with the first 45.

‘Some very harsh words and home truths were said at half-time and, to be fair, I got a good reaction from the players.

‘We took control but then lacked a bit in the final third and paid the price.’
